IFMSA-Poland recommends a program for undergraduate students called Amgen Scholars run by Amgen Foundation which seeks to advance science education; improve patient access to quality care; and strengthen the communities where Amgen staff members live and work.
Since 1991, the Foundation has made more than $140 million in grants to non-profit organizations across the United States, Puerto Rico and Europe that impact society in inspiring and innovative ways, and has also supported disaster relief efforts both domestically and internationally.
The Amgen Scholars Program provides hundreds of undergraduate students with the opportunity to engage in a hands-on summer research experience at some of the world's leading institutions.
Program Objectives
The Amgen Scholars Program has two main objectives:
· To increase learning and networking opportunities for undergraduate students committed to pursuing science or engineering careers; and
· To spark the interest and broaden the perspective of undergraduate students considering scientific careers.
How to Apply
Each host university has its own application process. You can apply to participate at as many host universities as you are interested in. The application at each host university requires, at a minimum, the submission of an official transcript, a letter of recommendation, and a personal statement or essay.
In the U.S., the application deadline for host universities is in early February, with the exception of the California Institute of Technology, for which the deadline is in mid-February. In Europe, the application deadline for host universities is in early February.
To apply to be an Amgen Scholar, go to the Host Universities section of this website and click on the U.S. Program or Europe Program. Then click on the host university you’re interested in.
